What are the church services like?
Promise is a modern, relevant church. To us that means that you can expect contemporary music, a passionate message, and at every service there is an opportunity to receive Jesus as your personal savior. Modern doesn't mean that we've abandoned the roots of "Old Time Religion," but we don't have a pipe organ or hymnals in the seats. It just means that we are in the 21st century, so we have church like it!
That means that you can expect wide variety of styles of music, a passionate message, and at every service there is an opportunity to receive Jesus as your personal savior. We have been called: Too Loud, Too Soft, Not Enough New Songs, Not Enough Classic Hymns, Exactly What I Needed Today. You'll want to bring a bible, and if you don't have one, we'll get you one. We promise, you'll enjoy the whole experience at Promise.
What about my children?
Promise loves families, and your whole family is welcome here. We have a phenomenal Children's Ministry we call Promise Kids. It's a play on words: PK's used to mean Preacher's Kids...you know - the ones to look out for. Well, at Promise, every kid is a PK, so we look out for all of them. We provide a clean, safe place for your children with a message, music, and games all designed to teach them more about God, while having fun with other people their age.
How should I dress?
What should you wear to a service at Promise? We say come as you are. One week Pastor Jeff might wear a suit coat; the next week he might wear jeans and a Tommy Bahama. (Mother's Day, Easter, and Christmas he tends to pull out a necktie too.) The point is to not get too hung up on it; just dress however you feel comfortable. We are a very diverse church, and during any given service you will see people dressed in a wide variety of ways. Chances are that no matter how you're dressed, there will be someone in our church dressed like you.
What is the culture of Promise
E pluribus unum means, "Out of many, one." It's all over our US currency. The idea comes from the Bible! Throughout history God has called people from every corner of the world to come be a part of His family. We have people from all walks of life, from different backgrounds, and all kinds of histories, all coming to a modern, relevant, church with a culture that leads to two main things: Loving God, and Loving People. Since everyone is at a different place in their walk, that culture allows us to make room for people to come and continue growing closer to God while God works inside each of us. Come expecting to hear Bible truths that will equip you to turn away from things in your life that drag you down, and to live a more successful Godly life.
Church etiquette
We place a high priority on the Word of God, and God is changing lives in this place. Because of that there is some etiquette that we ask you to follow in order to not disturb what God is doing. We ask that you turn off all cell phones, or any noise-making devices while in service. We want people who come to Promise to hear from God, not from your ringtone, as cool as it may be.
We also ask that you sign in your children under 7th grade in the Promise Kids department. We have the best children's ministry in the Inland Empire, and your kids will be safe and have fun. If you have a nursing infant, or another special situation that needs your personal attention, of course we want you to be comfortable. As we grow we're adding the systems and technologies to simplify things, meanwhile, let's just pull together and take care of things! Welcome!
